Steel Beam Theatre Youth Audition Notice

Steel Beam Theatre is seeking to cast 15-20 actors age 8 -16 for their February youth show Into The Woods Jr. to be directed by Lexi Colatorti

The Tony Award-winning musical, Into the Woods JR. features all of your favorite characters – Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk) and the Witch in this lyrically rich retelling of classic Brothers Grimm fables.

The musical centers on a baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse and wind up changed forever.

With unforgettable roles for actors, Into the Woods JR. showcases an ensemble of talented singers and actors!

Auditions start at 6 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the Steel Beam Theatre, located at 111 West Main Street St Charles, IL 60174 No appointment is necessary. Actors will be seen in the order that they arrive. A free parking garage is available on the South side of the building. You may enter the theatre on the South side through the Plaza.

Actors age 8 -16 auditioning will read sides from the script and should prepare a short song they know well to be sung acapella. Wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move easily. Please bring an acting resume if you have one and also a photo (candid one is acceptable). Information sheets will be provided to fill out at the theatre for those who do not have a resume available. Rehearsals begin the week of January 7th and are held 2-3 times a week depending on availability of actors and necessity. You must be available for all rehearsals through the performances. Showtimes are: Saturday, February 9th at 11 a.m. and Sunday, February 10th at 1 p.m.

Once casting is complete, youth that have been cast will pay a production-based tuition fee of $200 which is due prior to the first rehearsal date. Financial assistance is available to families in need. To inquire about scholarships please contact Lori Holm via email at
